Roman world

  • With Rome, Consul At of Mr. Claudius M.f. Marcellus, C. Nautius Rutilus.
  • Secession of the Plebs Roman E on the Janicule, laws hortensiennes.
    • the plebs is withdrawn on Janicule (last secession) to obtain the assignment of the grounds sabines. Quintus Hortensius, named dictator, supported by Curius Dentatus, promulgates the Hortensiennes laws which support the plebs so that it returns in the city. They amnesty and reduce the debts and give to the plebiscites decided by the Comices tributes the force of law for the whole people (suppression of the traditional senatorial ratification, the auctoritas patrum ). The power of the democratic opposition is increased (fine of the Guerre of the orders).

  • Period of economic welfare after the allotment of the Sabine (- 287/-285).

World hellenistic

  • Rising against the garrison Macedonian with Athens under the direction of the strategist Olympioros (spring). Intervention of the fleet lagide ordered by Kallias, brother of Phaidros.
  • Démétrios Ier Poliorcète puts the seat in front of Athens which revolted. The others Diadoque S and Pyrrhus Ier assist from the city and the seat is raised but all the possessions of Athens (Pirée, Salamine, Lemnos, Éleusis, Skyros and Imbros…) remain with the hands of Démétrios. Death

  • Théophraste of Lesbos, philosopher peripatetician, in Athens (born in -374). Disciple of Plato, then of Aristote, it takes the direction of the Lycée. He devotes himself especially to botanical philosophy ( Characters, Histoire of the plants, Poétique ).
