Zyzomys pedunculatus

This small rodent Australia N of the family of the Muridés is a species in critical danger of extinction.

Syn. Latin: Laomys pedunculatus .

This rat of the rocks (“in exchange rock'n'roll rat” for the english-speaking) seemed an extinct species since decades when it was redécouvert in 1996 in West MacDonnell Ranges. It since then has summer seen of small number in several sites of West MacDonnells. The Alice Springs Serves Park, in the center of the Australia, maintains for more safety a small population in captivity by taking care to respect the demographic and genetic constraints recommended by the international specialists.
