The zythum or zython is the name of a drink rather similar to Bière that the former Egyptians manufactured starting from Orge germinated and fermented. It bears also the name of wine of barley or drink pélusienne , the name of its place of manufacture, the town of Péluse, located between the Egypt and the Palestine.

“Zythum” or “zython” is among the last words of the Dictionnaire S French, with Zyzomys , rat with white tail of Australia.
