Zygophyllaceae

The family of the Zygophyllacées is a family of plants Dicotylédone S which includes/understands 235 Espèce S divided into about thirty kind S:

  • Augea , Bulnesia , Fagonia , Guaiacum , Halimiphyllum , Izozogia , Kallstroemia , Kelleronia , Larrea , Metharme , Miltianthus , Morkillia , Neoluederitzia , Peganum “, Pintoa”, Plectrocarpa , Porlieria , Roepera , Sarcozygium , Seetzenia , Sericodes , Sisyndite , Tetradiclis , Tetraena , Tribulopis , Tribulus , Viscainoa , Zygophyllum .
They are trees, shrubs or herbaceous plants of the areas moderated with tropical, largely widespread in the tropical areas, often in the arid regions.

The kind Guaiacum provides the Gaïac, a very hard and dense wood.

In phylogenetic classification APG II (2003), Zygophyllacées are now directly attached to the Fabidées. Also, it is necessary to add the kind Balanites (in some other classifications coming from the family of Balanitacées). The kind Krameria can be included in Zygophyllacées or, optionellement, can be to raise with a Krameriacées family.

Oct. 2006 accepts 285 species in 26 kinds. It places this family in the order Zygophyllales .
