Zulma
Founded in 1991, in Gers, the editions Zulma - in tacit reference to Tristan Corbière and Honore de Balzac - were imagined by two impassioned literature, Laure Leroy and Serge Safran. In about fifteen years, this passion did not cease developing in the discovery and the meeting.
From now on installed with Paris, boulevard Haussmann, the leading, strong team of new energies, continues the adventure with requirements increased on all the registers, as well graphic as literary. Turned by priority towards the French and foreign literatures, Zulma is essential the only valid criterion, that of any consequent reader: to be in love with the text which it will be necessary to defend.
At the rate/rhythm of a score of innovations per annum, added to a very rich catalog already, in the selected fields of the contemporary Littérature in phase with its time, as well French, as Asian (India, China and South Korea, in particular) and of course European (with Germany in priority), but also of traditional extremely rare or reinvented (in VO for our famous English Classics), of the inventive popular literature and the black novel also, of the tests curious, drolatic or erudite, Zulma opens readily its field with all the great singular, the extraordinary ones, the strange ones, masterpieces from here and besides, authors forgotten, new or devoted.
To publish for Zulma, it is initially to actively dream without failing (nor to weaken), it is to try to invent with all and each one the future of the reading, it is to seek in a kind of enivrement, not an untraceable formula, but the hour and the place of this ideal meeting between the author and his reader.
Since the autumn 2006, the covers of the literary collections are created by the English graphic designer David Pearson.
Among the authors published at Zulma: Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, Jacques Bens, Pascal Garnier, Hubert Haddad, Hwang Sok-yong, Roland Jaccard, Michel Laclos, Marcus Malta, Georges Perec, Robert Scipion, Rabindranath Tagore, Jacques Servant, Cecile Wajsbrot…
