Zuani

Zuani is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Corse and the Corsica area .

Geography

Zuani is a charming village which lengthens along a peak, at the bottom of the valley of Corsiglièse, in the Southern part of the Castagniccia. It is located in the Pieve of the Serra. Halfway between Cortenais and the Eastern plain, the village, exposed well to the South, profits from pleasant climatic conditions in spite of altitude (the church, in the center of the village, is with 700 meters of altitude). Almost deserted the winter (four or five families remain there), it is repopulated the summer with the arrival of the holiday makers who find their family cradle there. Relatively saved by the fires, at least since the disappearance of some stockbreeders, the commune is very wooded and, apart from the omnipresent maquis, remain some scraps of planted orchards of chestnuts. This chestnut grove is not exploited unfortunately any more and the fruits, the come autumn, make the delight of the pigs and the wild boars which digress with complete freedom. On the tourist level, Zuani has a remarkable church baroque, admirably restored, with an astonishing gate of entry which is registered with the inventory of the monuments. Some antiques square towers génoises of dwelling, sometimes very degraded, more of the threshing floors to corn, constitute the local inheritance.

Demography

Places and monuments

Zuani has a remarkable church baroque, built at the XVII century, admirably restored, with an astonishing gate of entry which is registered with the inventory of the monuments. Some antiques square towers génoises of dwelling, sometimes very degraded, more of the threshing floors to corn, constitute the local inheritance. Surrounding heights (collar of Foata, collar of San Cumiziu) one profits from an imposing panorama on the Eastern plain and the high crystalline solid masses of the ïle (Renosu, chain of Fiumorbu, Rotondu and basin of Corte on other side of the collar of San Cumiziu). The hikes are made painful by a very aggressive vegetation with the calves of the hikers: the brambles and the hawthorns in particular often bar the old ways. On the common neighbor of Ampriani, one can admire the old convent St Téophile where the saint made a retirement at the XVIIIè century, about 1730 (private property, it is not visited any more).
