Zosime (sophist)
Zosime , Sophist and Rhéteur, born in the town of Alexandria, in Egypt, approximately towards 300 av. J. - C., was strong attache with the doctrines of Plato and started to be made known by the life of this philosopher, whom he had studied a long time. He composed then of the works of physics, which he classified according to the alphabetical order, and he must by being there regarded as the first known author of a dictionary. He divided his principal work into twenty-eight books and dedicated it to his/her sister Théosébie, who was also very erudite. None of its writings reached us.
