The Zorn is a river of the North of the Alsace, right affluent of the Moder and tributary of a tributary of the the Rhine.
The name of the river means running the resulting from the preceltic root " Sur" who means " couler". The old documents indicates it under the name " Sorne" in German. On the charts of Cassini whose sheet 162 probably finished at the end of the XVIIIe century, the name of the river appears in its current version. The " Z" comes from an agglutination of the singular female article " die" pronounced " dz" into Alsatian. The misspelling comes then probably from a cartographer who asked “for How is called this river? ” and which one answered into Alsatian: “ of Sorn ”. The written transformation was easily accepted considering that the new name " die Zorn" is homophonous of " der Zorn" (anger) in German. The Zorn river thus bears a name which allots a strength to him that it does not have.
