Zooparc de Trégomeur

The Zooparc de Trégomeur , located on the commune of Trégomeur in the department of the Coast-with Armor in Brittany, was inaugurated the April 28th 2007.

It is about a project with for mission: the protection of the species and presentation of the animals in their ecosystem.

History

1960 : Creation of the park by Mr. and Mrs. Arnoux
2001: Following problems of resumption of the park, the General advice is solicited to take it again
2003: The park is taken again by the General advice and of the invitations to tender are launched to modernize the park. the General advice decided to retain the candidatures of Mr. Olivier de Lorgeril, person in charge of the Zoo of Bourbansais as owner and the Interscène cabinet as superintendent of project of installation of the future zoo
2004: The project is adopted by the General advice
2006: The phase of great work begins
2007: The April 28th, the park reopens with the public

Visitors

During the period of the Arnoux husbands, the frequentation was of: 50000 annual visitors. The General advice of Coast-in Amor wishes that the number pass to: 100000 annual visitors.

The visit of the Park

In the new concept of the zoo, the presentation of the animals concentrates on those originating in the continent of Asia, while keeping the presentation of the lemur S. the philosophy of the park is the wellbeing of the animals, by hoping that this one will support to also them reproduction. The enclosures were studied to observe the environmental conditions of each animal.

The park is located in a valley, specific installations having been set up (standards PMR/people with reduced mobility) so that any visitor to reach it.

The first visible animals are the panthers of snows, the camels of Bactriane, the horses of Przewalski and the tigers of Siberia. The visit continues by admiring since the footbridge the fishing cat, then by observing the ashy otters, all this course being done while descending the coast.

As from this moment the animals are located in islands or right at side. These animals are the Entelle S, the Siamang S, the fishing cat, the Binturong, the Grand cormorant, the curly pelicans and the Porc-épic S. After those, an exposure on the horses of Przewalski makes it possible to see how a species in the process of disappearance is thriving again, allowing the reintroduction in its medium of origin, the Mongolia.

The visit continues with the tortoise S then the island of the Gibbon S, by the turn of the islands of the lemurs and one arrives nearly two immense enclosures which accommodate the Antilope S, stags of the Father David, nigaults, then comes the birdcage from the pink flamingos and in a decoration of rice plantation one admires cranes of Mandchourie and hydropotes.

One finds then the animals of the farm, then in a common enclosure the Dhole and the Malayan Ours, the Coati S and russet-red pandas and a expo on Madagascar and one finishes by the parakeets with collar and the pheasant of Edwards, before admiring by the top it enclosed of the Dhole and the Malayan Ours.

Direction

The park is directed by Olivier de Lorgeril, who is the person in charge of the Zoo of Bourbansais in Ille-et-Vilaine.

Access

The park is close to the Trunk road 12 close to Saint-Brieuc.

Opening

The park is open all the year safe during the holidays of Christmas.
