The zoology (of the Greek terms ζoον i.e. zoon, animal, and λόγος i.e. logos, the speech) is the science which studies the animal.
During the 19th century the disciplinary fields specialized according to the studied animal group appeared. The principal ones are:
the Entomology , the study of the Insect S
Institutional specialists were trained to study of such animal group, to identify the species of them, to work out of it or to re-examine classification of it… Today, these distinctions are not also any more clear. These terms are of advantage become the description of a field of the scholarship, the specialists become very rare. Those, which use the techniques and conceptual most modern (molecular biology, phylogenetic analyzes…), hardly any more claim themselves of these names. They will be specialists in numerical taxonomy, biologists of the evolution. In other words, except exception, it is not any more the material (insect, fish, mushroom, bird…) who is used to define the biological discipline, but questions that this material makes it possible to pose and possibly solve.
Comparative anatomy, study of the structure of the animals.
