Zoological gardens of Jurques

The Zoological gardens of Jurques or of Cabosse is a private zoo located in light withdrawal of the road Caen-Transfers between Villers-Scrap-metal and Vire.

The park and its management

Limited liability company directed by Bernadette and Claude Ourry, the zoo of Jurques occupies a wooded park of 15 hectares and employs about fifteen people full-time. It is open every Wednesday, Saturdays and Sundays, and daily of April at the beginning of September. It accommodates annually approximately: 100000 visitors.

History

The zoological gardens of Cabosse opened its doors in 1977 with a surface of 8 hectares.

Population

The zoo shelters approximately 500 animals divided into 150 species. Many cat-like and primates, but also giraffes, zebras, Oryx, ostriches, parrots, raptors, reptiles, mygales… the high-speed motorboats is undoubtedly the white lions, the shape mutant of the lion.

Objectives

The zoo of Jurques is member of the European Association of the zoos and the aquariums (AEZA) and the National association of the zoological gardens of France (ANPZ). In addition to its educational, specific goal to all the zoological gardens (in particular with its animations), it takes part in the European programs of breeding.
