The ethnicity Zmalas includes two tribes:

• the Zmalas known as Hamianes which live in the areas of El-Melah, El Amria, Douar Jadis, Hassi El Ghella and Ouled Chentouf.

• the second tribe fixed in the area of Hammam Bouhadjar, Douar Tamezougha, Sebbah Wadi, Douar Djaafra, Douar Tenzet, Douar Mefathia and Douar Chaiba, Of the Berber time (Mérinides) and during the French occupation , this tribe was divided into two groups: Tenazet in the east and the Meftah in the west.

• the mérinides, Occupy the kingdom of Grenade, all Morocco and part of Algeria, more far from Oran. And their village Tamzoughra (meadows of hammam bouhadjar) founded

• According to the old ones of the time, the Oranais cursed the Zmalas and the douairs (allah yan' aal zmalas OAU douairs wine my tlakou), because of the Treaty with the French, This treaty was signed on June 16th, 1834, Zmalas and Douaires, source of conflict which led to the agreement of Figguier (El Kerma) between Aghas Mustapha Ben Ismaiel Zmali, Aga Kadour Ben El Morfy Zmali and Aga Benaouda Mazari Zmali on a side, and the general Trézel of the other because these tribes refused to pay the Zakât (Achoura ) with the Emir Abdelkader.
