Ziskakan
Ziskakan is a Groupe of music of the Réunion created in 1979 and whose leader is Gilbert Pounia.
Before becoming one of the headlights groups of the scene réunionnaise, Ziskakan aimed at " the valorization and propagation of the culture réunionnaise" . Also, the group begins very quickly in the denunciation of what it perceives like harmful policies imposed by Paris, to start with those of BUMIDOM. It dedicates a song in 1980 to him.
True laboratory of studies of the language and the creole culture, Ziskakan is also a musical group which, since 1983 and the exit of an double album " Péi Bato Fou" , is known and recognized by the public réunionnais but also by an increasingly large audience.
In the various concerts and recordings in studio attest carried out outside the island: New Delhi, Maurice, Seychelles, the United States, London, Brussels… With Paris, it already occurred with the Olympia.
Since its creation, the group directed by Gilbert Pounia, made it possible a great number to discover and appreciate a music with the image of the cultural diversity of the island of the Meeting: Indian musics, African percussions, creole texts….
