Zinzan Brooke

Zinzan Valentine Brooke , born the February 14th 1965 with Waiuku, is a player of Rugby to XV New Zealand, evolving/moving at the station of third line centers.

Barred at its beginnings by the captain of the Blacks Wayne Shelford, it is only in 1990 that it becomes really titular in spite of international beginnings at the time of the World cup of Rugby 1987. As a Maori, he becomes also the leader of the Haka, station held also before by Wayne Shelford.

Its dexterity, its qualities athletic and its extreme direction of the competition then do of it one of the most influential players of the world of Rugby. In 1993, it takes part largely in the victory in the series against the Lions. In spite of the average results of its team at the time of the year 1994 (demolished against the France with Auckland, two victories for no one and a defeat at the time of the round of the Springboks), its popularity is not started: it is named New Zealand player of the year.

In spite of a rupture of the Achilles' heel, his importance is such as it is selected in the group for the World cup of Rugby 1995 in South Africa. After having completely destroyed the XV of the Rose at the time of the semi-final, by making a success of with the passage a drop of more than 40 m, it fails finally against Springboks.

At the time of the round carried out the following year in South Africa, it takes its revenge by gaining the series 3-1. It finishes its international career in 1997, year during which Blacks gain 10 victories, finishing on no one with Twickenham against English.

After two titles in the Super 12, it gains the England in 1998 to play at the Harlequins of London, club which it will involve also thereafter but without real success.
