Zigmantas Balčytis
Zigmantas Balčytis (born the November 16th 1953 in the area of Šilutė close to Klaipėda) is a economist, mathematician and politician Lithuania N, Prime Minister by interim of June 1st 2006 with the July 4th 2006. He was Minister for Finance of the May 17th 2005 at June 1st 2006 then July 20th 2006 with the March 27th 2007.
Balčytis is Minister for Transport of the July 12th 2001 with the May 17th 2005, then he becomes Minister for Finance until the resignation of Algirdas Brazauskas, on June 1st 2006. Balčytis becomes Prime Minister by interim then. Like its predecessor, Balčytis is member of the Parti social democrat Lithuanian ( Lietuvos socialdemokratų partija ). The June 15th according to, it is indicated by the president Valdas Adamkus to form a new coalition government, but its candidature is rejected by the Seimas the June 20th.
President Adamkus then chooses to name by interim Gediminas Kirkilas at the post of Prime Minister, who obtains the confidence of Seimas the July 20th and which renews Zigmantas Balčytis at the post of minister of Finances.
He resigns of the post of minister of Finances, the March 27th 2007 after a scandal implying his son in the use of the European funds.
