Zhengzhou (郑州; Pinyin: Zhèngzhōu; ) or Tcheng-Tchéou is the capital of the Chinese province of the Henan. Its population exceeded 7 million inhabitants in 2004. One speaks the Dialecte there about Zhengzhou of the Mandarin zhongyuan.

Geography

Zhengzhou is a big city located at the center of the China. The surface of the city itself is of 1013,3 km ². It is located at the crossroads of two major railway lines (the lines Longhai and Jingguang) which make a city with the very important rail traffic of it.

History

The city has a very old history, which goes back to approximately 3600 years. It was one of the principal cities of the dynasties Xia (), Shang (), Guan (), Zheng () and Han ().

Places and monuments

Zhengzhou has many historic buildings, as the buildings which were built during the dynasty Shang (). Close to the city the temple Shaolin, known is in the whole world as being the source of the Kung-Fu ShaoLin in China.

In 2005, total GDP was of 166,1 billion Yuan S, and the GDP per capita of: 25474 yuans.
