Zhengyangmen
Zhengyangmen () or often Qianmen () is a door of the old wall of Beijing, between the prohibited Cité and the Chinese Ville. It is currently located at the south of the Place Tiananmen. It is one of only not to be destroyed in the Années 1950.
Built in 1419, the door included/understood a body of guard and a tower of archers forming large a Barbacane. The essence of construction remained, although with various recoveries having been modified. The current door goes back to 1914, and includes/understands elements suggested by German advisers. High, this door 42 meters is, since its construction, highest of Beijing.
After the proclamation of the Popular republic of China, the door was occupied a long time by the Army.
