The era Zhenghe , or Tcheng-Ho (92 - 89 av. J. - C.) (Chinese traditional and simplified: zh-Hant 征和; Pinyin: Zhēnghé ; litt. “Conquest and peace”) are it tenth Chinese era of the emperor Wudi of the Dynastie Han. Zhenghe is sometimes written Yanhe (zh-Hant 延和, “To prolong peace”) but it is considered commonly that it is several alternatives about the same character.
According to Ying Shao, in a comment which it inserted in the Chronicle of Wudi of the Livre of Han , the Wudi emperor would have stated to want “to raise troops (zh-Hant 征) to attack the four cruel tribes and to pacify (zh-Hant 和) the Empire. ” From where the name of the new era: “Conquest and peace” (zh-Hant 征和). The majority of the well-read men of the following generations thought that the character zheng (zh-Hant 征) name of the era was in fact an alternative of writing of a character which was written zh-Hant 廴正 and which resembles enormously the character yan (zh-Hant 延). Indeed, Chen Zhi in its Hanshu xin zheng speaks about the “first year of the era zh-Hant 廴正和” and several archaeological discoveries and old documents leave think that the original character was well zh-Hant 廴正. This alternative of writing then disappeared with the profit from zheng . Thus, according to the Zhongguo lidai nianhao kao , as of the end of the period of Han Eastern (3rd century, i.e. the time of Ying Shao), the majority of the documents spoke already about “Zhenghe era. ”
