Zhao (Pinyin: zhào, simplified Chinese: 赵, traditional Chinese: 趙) was one of the seven state S which composed the ancient China during the Period of the kingdoms combatants. Its Capitale was Handan (邯郸).

Its territory extended on the current provinces from the Mongolia-Interior , of the Hebei, the Shanxi and the Shaanxi. The borders of this state touched the country of the Huns (Xiongnu) as well as the kingdoms of the Qin, the Wei and the Yan.

According to the Légende, it is of this area that the commercial rich person in horses Lu Buwei was originating.
