Zhang Liao was one of the officers of Lu Drunk, but worked for the lord Dong Zhuo.

In the series of plays Dynasty Warriors, the character of Zhang Liao was developed very early starting from the second shutter. He is represented there like a man of honor and honesty, the equivalent of Guan Yu of Shu with which he shares a relation of deep respect and friendship, and his weapon is very close to that of his friend, bearing the name of Wyvern where that of Guan Yu is called Dragon.
