Zetsuai 1989

Zetsuai 1989 is a manga of Minami Ozaki treating male homosexuality. Published in the Margaret magazine of the Shueisha editions as from 1989, five volumes connected leave between 1990 and 1991.

Short summary of the history

Takuto Izumi is a young high-school pupil, all that there is of more banal seemingly; he adores the football which he practices with the club of the college, and only saw. Koji Nanjo, as for him, stopped the college to begin a career of singer.

At the time of daily sound jogging, Izumi meets Koji, drunk dead, spread out beside dustbins. It brings back it at his place by pity, and thus starts long and tortuous history of impossible love.

Throughout these five volumes, we discover the heavy traumatism which marked the childhood of Izumi, and the desperate feelings of Koji appearing homosexual.

Characters

Takuto Izumi

Impassioned by football, Izumi lives only for its passion and its family. Indeed, Izumi is orphan; whereas it is just 5 years old, his/her mother assassinates her father under her horrified eyes. Beyond the traumatism which resulted from it, this event so deeply marks Izumi that it cannot, unconsciously, to open its heart with any love. The love becomes for him synonymous with murder, just like his/her mother killed her father by love. After having remained in orphanage, Takuto, its young sister Serika Izumi and its young brother Yugo Izumi , will be adopted all the three. In spite of the new hearth which accommodates them, Takuto will be always regarded as only and single guard of its brother & sister, making pass the wellbeing of its family above all.

From a psychological point of view, Takuto is a very contained boy; people who do not know it find it timid… Internally, it is in fact a volcano of passion which sommeille! It does not feel well that on a ground of foot, where it can leave free court to all the rage which it contains.

Koji Nanjo

Wire of a famous family of practitioners of the Kendo, Koji drops its future career very traced within the family dynasty, like its studies, to become singer… Non without reason.

At the 11 years age, Koji lived the moment more upsetting its short life; while passing by chance beside a football field, he between sees a mad player, impassioned, with the eyes expressing emotions sharp as well as itself is touched by it. Koji gets information about the identity of this child, one answers him that it is about Izumi, a 8 year old girl… Koji will return the following day, to try to re-examine this Izumi, in vain. Follow several years during which the memory of this person haunts it, so much so that he becomes singer to try to find it. At the beginning of Zetsuai, Koji finds finally the girl of its dreams, except that it had been badly indicated the first time that it had seen it; Izumi is in fact a boy! (the child which had informed it had confused Takuto and Serika).

Although the object of its desires is a man, Koji cannot get rid of this love which animated it during several years… the conflict between its heart and its reason destroys it slowly, from where the title of this manga " Desperate love/Love absolu".

Katsumi Shibuya

It is the best friend of Koji, his confidant, and his manager. Shibuya Corp. product the discs of Koji, Katsumi is thus a little responsible for the career of his/her friend. It quickly includes/understands the feelings of Koji towards Izumi and tries to advise it as well as possible to prevent that their situation does not finish in drama.

Zetsuai 1989 gave place to an after-effect: " Bronze ~ Zetsuai since 1989 " whose publication began in 1992, and who is not completed yet after 13 volumes.
