Zervanism

The Zervanisme (or Zurvanisme ) is old a Religion of the Iran, already known of the Achéménides. It preexisted to the Zoroastrisme. It is based on the strict duality of the Good and the Evil, Ormazd and Ahriman, generated of a single principle, “Zrvan Akaran”, inconditionné time. The orthodoxe Mazdéisme regarded it as a heresy. It is at the origin of the Mithraïsme and the doctrines manichéennes.

Zurvan is more one concept which God, it is before a whole unspecified principle, and the creator of two Démiurge S twins, where the evil, Ahriman, are necessary to the principle of creation. Zurvan has two functions, the first infinite one, the finished and generating second of time. Paul Masson-Oursel compares it to Cronos: “This absolute, creative time and devorator at the same time, as well as the cronos of the Greeks”.
