Zero 7

Zero 7 is a British group of Electronic music directed Down tempo, made of two Londoniens: Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. They are pointed out following the remix Climbing up the Walls of Radiohead, whereas they are sound engineers during the recording of the album OK Computer , of same the Radiohead. Their musical style is close to that of the French group Air.

Biography

After studies of Sound engineer, Binns and Hardaker started their career in music industry in the years 1990 in the studio of recording RAK of Mickie Most in London, working for British artists such as the Pet Shop Boys, Young Disciples and Robert Plant. They contacted their friend and former comrade of college Nigel Godrich, then producing of Radiohead and required of him to use a few pieces of the groups to try out their know-how. They mixed " thus; Climbing Up the Walls", which appeared opposite B individual the " Karma Organizes ".

This remix was diffused during the emission of Gilles Peterson on Radio operator BBC 1, which led Zero 7 to mix other project, to start with " Coil Theme From Spartacus" of Terry Holder. Thereafter, they also remixèrent Lenny Kravitz, Sneaker Pimps and Lambchop. In 1999, they left a first EP, entitled " EP1" , under the name of Zero 7 (according to a club of the Honduras named " Zero Siete"). In 2001 they leave their first album, , greeted by the critic and the public. The album comprises vocal collaborations of Mozez, Sia Furler and Sophie Barker.

The album was nominated for several prices, in particular for the Mercury Music Prize. They gained the " Revelation of Année" in Muzik Awards. The album became Disque of gold. At the time of the promotional round in many festivals of music, the group consisted of Binns and Hardaker, with their three invited singers and other musicians (including one great number appeared on the album) reaching 20 people on scene sometimes simultaneously. In 2002, Zero 7 left an album mixed for the collection Another Late Night Azuli Records gathering several titles Hip-hop and Chill-out and a new title of the group, a resumption of Johnny Osbourne, " Truth & Rights".

In 2004, left the second album, . In addition to the three singers of the first album, new the opus comprises a collaboration with Tina Dico. The same year, Binns Co-writing also the title of Emma Bunton " Breathing" on its second album solo . Binns and old the Spice Girl will recollaboreront together on its third album left in 2006.

Zero 7 also is very taken again with the Télévision and the Cinéma like on compilation S lounge such as Chillout Project by the Filipino DJ Anton Ramos or compilations of the Hôtel Costes. The title " Lo" was reproduced on CD mixed by Layo and Bushwacka! .

Zero 7 left their third album on May 22nd 2006. On the new album, one will note new collaborations of Sia Furler, Jose González and the beginnings with the microphone of Henry Binns itself.
