Zerg
The Zerg are a race of the video game StarCraft . This race does not use any technology of a mechanical nature. All its power is based on the mass production and especially on the changes and all that them natural organics can offer to them (parasite, acids, claws and hooks…). Perfect for the raids of beginning of part, Zergs have a quantitative power more than qualitative, which leave them on the key at the time of too long parts. Zergs are a race deprived of any technology, but thus capable of great genetic mutations. This race with the characteristic to be able to absorb then to use genetic specificities of all the other races which it meets. Zergs profited to them-also from the protection of Xel' Nagas, but -also rebelled against their guards, and exterminated them. In one of the missions, Lt Duran would let imply survival Xel' Nagas and even its membership of this race! All the creatures Zergs (lurker, etc…) form only one common entity whose brain is Overmind. The intentions of Overmind are to absorb and control any other form of life.
Physically, Zergs resemble a little the Tyranides of Warhammer 40,000 or the Xénomorphe of Alien.
History of Zerg
Well before the history of the Humanité does not start, in the Univers a race existed whose development and technique were so advanced that it was to seem divine with the eyes of many others.
Since mists of time, this race worked towards an end research of the perfect species. Xel' Naga did not find this race at the time of their reconnaissance missions in the universe and started to handle other races, thus trying to create by themselves this perfect species. During their attempts, Xel' Naga developed the technique of the evolution proto-genetics and improved unceasingly it. One of the races on which Xel' Naga undertook their experiments finally arrived at such a development that it really seemed to them to have achieved their goal and approached the perfect species. Xel' Naga named these creatures Protoss, which meant about " First Born ". But some time later, it proved that the development had been carried out in a too short amount of time. Undesirable effects were done day at Protoss which ended up rebelling against Xel' Naga. Those were withdrawn, leaving Protoss to their destiny, to seek new races on which to practice their experiments.
Forwardings of Xel' Naga led them to the fine bottom of the galaxy where million stars was incredibly brought closer. There or the radiation of many suns irradiated space, Xel' Naga found Zerus, a Planet almost completely burned whose calcined surface was incredibly hot. On this planet lived a tiny species, creatures insectoïdes that Xel' Naga were extremely surprised to discover at this place. They had indeed supposed that no form of life could develop in an environment as hostile as Zerus. Xel' Naga thus decided to apply their programme of improvement of species and gave up by there creating a species of a beautiful appearance. These insectoïdes tiny became thus the new subject of study of Xel' Naga which started to treat them with their techniques of genic evolution proto. These tiny creatures proved excellent guinea-pigs, certainly too small to really be able to influence their environment, but particularly resistant and of a great adaptability.
The tiny creatures, baptized Zergs by Xel' Naga, had a completely special technique to come has end of an hostile environment and to use this one with their advantage. They had faculty to penetrate in the skin of others organizations and to progress in their body until the Nervous system. There, Zergs nourished nervous liquid of their host. Lastly, Zergs were able to control their host by the means of the nervous system and by arriving there at achievements which cuts to them prohibited to them. Xel' Naga observed Zergs with the greatest surprise by noting that they had never considered such a thing even in their most daring dreams. Xel' Naga were not yet at the end of their surprises because, with a little time, Zergs were not only able to control their hosts but led those to change organization for better adapting them to their needs.
Zergs were caught some unceasingly with new creatures and Xel' Naga observed that Zergs always endeavoured to attack only the creatures having an important potential of evolution. They could make use of this potential with their new Faculties to influence the development of their host according to their needs. Soon, Xel' Naga made worrying discovered: the creature parasitized by Zergs after some generations did not have anything any more commun run with its original race. Its development obeyed completely the will of tiny the insectoïdes. Moreover, it was established that the development of the various races controlled by Zergs tended towards a single species.
The memory of the disappointing experiment of Protoss was still sharp at Xel' Naga and they thus decided on the one hand not to accelerate the development of Zergs artificially and on the other hand all to implement to prevent the creation of an individualistic spirit on their premises. The error made with the Prime Ministers Born was not to be repeated. Careful handling of Xel' Naga led Zergs to the development of Overmind. Whereas Zergs were not separately any clean, Overmind expressed the will of entire the Zerg people. The Conscience Zerg appeared by 1 ' Overmind. This creature developed a personality and an intellect which being able beings considered as the collective expression. Overmind took the control of the swarm and determined its actions. Although these orders were not given directly but not transmitted by an especially designed subspecies of Zergs: the cérébrates, Overmind was to some extent the brain of the Zerg community.
With the additional development of Zergs, the assistants of Overmind also gained a clean will. Those specialized more as assistants and formed additional subraces designed each time for a well defined task. Lastly, there was Cérébrates whose single task was to seek food for the Zerg community, to exploit the raw materials or to seek new fresh hosts being able to be used. The clean will that developed different Cérébrates helped these creatures in the execution of their missions, but a genetic stopping prevented them from being unaware of an order or the will of Overmind.
Many other species were controlled by Zergs and transforms partly of the Essaim. These new Zergs subspecies filled there of the precise functions. And all Zergs, whatever their subspecies, had a common point a " barrier " genetics prevented that a lower individual passes in addition to the order gives by a superior or the swarm. The community gained thus more and more influence and of being able on its native planet and, thanks to so particular genetic faculties of Zergs, the race obeyed like a well oiled machine. But this perfection had also negative aspects which they perceived soon. In a few years, Zergs had controlled to all them Planet. There remained absolutely nothing which was not Zerg and the race was found in a dead end… which was likely to cause, in the long term, the extinction of the race.
But in the vastness of the space, the chance plays a great part and the destiny wanted that in this time of doubt for the Zerg race, a strange creature landed on Zerus, it was able to travel in cosmic space without technical assistance. Naturally, Zergs quickly took the control of these organic spaceships, adapted the material Génétique of these creatures and integrated the capacities thus gained in their own genetic inheritance. Some generations later, Zergs were able to leave their planet and could evolve/move freely in space. When that arrived, Xel' Naga understood that they had achieved their goal. If there could be a perfect species, they was Zergs. Filled of pride for their " work " , Xel' Naga continued to observe its evolution. But even a race as powerful as Xel' Naga was not completely invulnerable and their pride led them to neglect any vigilance with respect to Zergs. Xel' Naga were seen in " fathers " of Zergs and were unconsciously convinced that their " children " would not be turned over against them…
The resources being reduced quickly on Zerus, Zergs are transfered constrained to satisfy their needs elsewhere. The cérébrates sent scouts in space in the search of raw materials. These scouts ended up discovering the vessels Xel' Naga orbits about it around planet. Xel' Naga noticed Zergs only when it was too late. The scouts turned over to surface and submitted their report/ratio with the cérébrates. With a particular effectiveness, Zergs formed powerful armed forces and sent them in space. As that had already arrived to them, several millenia before, Xel' Naga were again attacked by " their " creatures. If the attack Protoss had been relatively easy to push back, the attack of the insectoïdes Zergs appeared, it fatal. Waves after vagueness, Zergs were thrown on the vessels whose carcasses groaned under the attack and ended up breaking finally. In an orgy of an incredible violence, Zergs assimilated in a few days all the race Xel' Naga. Overmind adapted not only the genetic material of the old race, but also adapted all their knowledge.
There remained soon nothing any more Xel' Naga. The vessels were destroyed, Xel' Naga themselves killed or assimilated in the Zerg community. Some individuals of the old race were preserved and put at the service of Overmind. Formidable knowledge of Xel' Naga was now at the disposal of Overmind without any restriction. Overmind learned thus much on the technique Xel' Naga and adapted this Technologie. What appeared particularly profitable for Zergs, they were the documents on the various attempts at creation of the perfect species. With meticulousness, Xel' Naga had written a report/ratio on each attempt, listed and catalogued each race. Overminds learned thus not only that there was in the universe of the thousands of other species, but also where those were and which special genetic capacities they had. The entire universe was revealed in Zergs, they hoped well to benefit from it.
Only obstacle with the progression of Zergs Prime Ministers Born. In the files Xel' Naga, Overmind had also found information on Protoss, they withdrew these writings which this race was to be a powerful and sophisticated enemy, having faculties which missed in Zergs. According to the information of Xel' Naga, one of essential qualities of Protoss resided in their telepathic gifts, completely unknown of Zergs. For this reason Overmind solved not to launch out immediately in a conflict against Protoss but to act patiently and all to implement for the " absorber". Zergs then sought a means of facing Protoss without being embanked by their powerful mental capacities. They sent innumerable tiny organic probes in space in the search of suggestions for solution. Finally, one of these probes arrived in the sector of Koprulu and discovered Terrans there there. For Overmind, the thing was heard it is with this species that they would beat Protoss.
As the Zergs probes had established it, Terrans had latent mental capacities, although the human ones are not conscious of these faculties and cannot thus control them. If Zergs succeeded with " to assimilate " Terrans, then the swarm could use these new genes, to lead Terrans to develop them beyond their stage of latency. It would be then possible in Zergs to isolate genes responsible for the existence from psionic Faculties and to add them to their genetic inheritance. Zergs would have then in their turn these faculties and could face Protoss with equal footings.
Zergs thus reflect the course on the sector of Koprulu. The voyage lasted of the decades, but the swarm reached finally the zones bordering on the sector populated by Terrans. They started by taking the control of the planet Chau Sara by sowing microscopic spores on the surface of this planet colonized by the human ones. Those did not notice anything the Zergs intrigues which waited then patiently until harvest bears its fruits. But that did not occur.
Indeed, the sector of Koprulu was very close to the sector populated by Protoss and the Prime Ministers Born had laid out a whole fleet of spaceships of recognition near Terrans. These ships discovered some of the Zergs space probes. The day when Zergs arrived finally in the sector of Koprulu, Protoss had had enough time to analyze the organic patrol craft of Zergs. They then took conscience of a risk of invasion without to know exactly where this one would occur. Consequently, Protoss observed the Terran sector even more attentively than hitherto. And they did not fail to notice that Zergs had taken the control of the Planet Chau Sara. Since all the surface of this planet was contaminated by the Spores Zergs, it remained in Protoss of another solution only to destroy Chau Sara - an action which Protoss did not explain to Terrans, which transfers in them invaders seeking the destruction of humanity. And all the military fleet Terrane was dispatched against Protoss.
Zerg units
Zergs as it was known as previously thus has a deterrent force centered on the number rather than another thing. The zerglings are the example more striking: they are fast to produce and appear in double specimen at a moderate cost. however, although very rapid, their force and resistance are tiny, one needs really good ten zerglings to give something of a little conclusive. The armada zergue includes/understands more many units than effective: the hydralisk is a capable unit to hold in respect of the Protoss disciples and exceeds any basic unit terrane easily.
One of the characteristics of the units zergs, it is that certain are able to evolve/move to become other particular units: the mutalisk (basic flying unit) can specialize as a Guard (unit anti-terrestrial) or devourer (anti-aircraft unit), but thus loses its versatility. The hydralisk can be transformed into sapper, a unit mortal in defense which is buried and been able to attack since the underground one while remaining invisible.
If the zergs do not have a psykers like Protoss, the queens and the saboteurs can use particular biological capacities the substitute.
The most powerful unit of the Zerg clouds is without any doubt the ultralisk. This unit is a true organic tank: rapid, heavily protected, mortal with the body with body, its weak points are its size, which gene its movements and makes of it a target of choice and its incapacity to tackle the flying units.
Lastly, the lords, units essential with the clouds, are the relays of the cérébrates which make it possible to control more units. They are doubled flying transport and detectors.
Zerg in Guild Wars
One can note the appearance of the name Zerg which indicates the name of a team (zergway) which is based on assailing character with the body has body which drains the energy of its adversaries.
