Zbyněk Hejda

Zbyněk Hejda is a Czech poet born on February 2nd 1930 with Hradec Králové (Eastern Bohemia).

Bolshevik of the first hour, his/her father is excluded from the Communist party in 1938 to have taken the defense of the Retour of the U.S.S.R. of André Gide, before dying mysteriously the following year. Between 1948 and 1953, Zbyněk Hejda studies with Prague, then becomes assistant of history at the university. It is dislocated of its functions in 1958 to have criticized the Soviet intervention in Budapest. This year, it publishes its first poems in the review Host C domu , with Brno.

Recognized poet, it becomes in 1969 member of the Union of the writers, within whom it represents the esthetic and ideological positions review Tvář , more liberal than that of the renovating Communists. Interdict of publication as from 1970, it loses, in 1977, the right to exert its use of bookseller. Seriously sick, it publishes by way of Samizdat and takes part in work of the VONS (Committee for the defense of the wrongfully continued people).

With the fall of the mode and Soviet Empire, Hejda, from now on free, can finally publish its works in an official way. In 1987, it gains Re-examined the Revolver price, and, at the end of 1989, it gains the literary prize Tom Stoppard for his collection Proximités of dead the . In 1996, the publisher TORST publishes a complete edition of its poetic works. October 9th, 1996, it gains the literary prize Jaroslav Seifert for its collection Valse melancholic person . It starts to give courses of literary history to the Medical college of the University Charles.

Translator, it announced himself like the frontier runner, in Czech language, of Emily Dickinson, Georg Trakl or Gottfried Ben.
