Zavod Imeni Likhacheva
ZIL is a Russian car manufacturer . He produces top-of-the-range cars of luxury reserved to the dignitaries of the country. Their design is very old and their confidential diffusion.
Besides ZIS ( Zavod Imeni Stalina ) was founded in 1933, its name carries that of the leader of the time, Stalin. The first model was the 101 and was a model intended for the dignitaries of the mode, as can let it suppose the data sheet: 5,8 liters of cubic capacity, 8 cylinders in lines, automatic box…
The following model, slightly top spin, uses the same block but delivers 20 horses moreover: 110 ch for a top speed of 130 km/h.
The war stopped the automobile production activity, which began again in 1946 with model 110. Always in the high-end with one 8 cylinders of 6 liters and 140 ch. Ce models died out in 1958.
At the time of the Destalinization, the factory changed name into ZIL: Zavod Imeni Likatcheva , of the name of the plant manager.
The following model, the 111 was thus the first to carry mark ZIL. This limousine, with its design well in the air of time, always had one 8 cylinders, but out of V this time, and this one developed 200 ch.
The 111 was altered in 1963. It resembles from now on a Lincoln.
In 1967, the 117 made its appearance, with its long version, the 114. This rather constant rate/rhythm of changes (3 new models in 10 years!) is rather rare in the Russian production. The V8 benefits from it to increase in cubic capacity to arrive at 7 liters.
In 1985, after 18 years of career (here is rather the “normal” rate/rhythm for the Russian production…) the 117 takes its retirement. The 4104 (41041 for the 5 places, 41047 for the 7 places) is born in 1978, it underwent a face face lift in 1985, and it is always produced.
