The zashiki warashi (座敷童, zashiki warashi ), sometimes called zashiki bokko (座敷童子, zashiki bokko ), is a Yōkai Japan board of the type “house spirit”. The name comes from zashiki , traditional part of an inn ryokan , and of warashi or antiquated bokko , terms for child or young woman, these spirits being generally represented by a little boy or an young girl. They represent of this fact the purity. The legend is supposed to be originating in the Région of Tōhoku, but settled since in the Japanese Mythologie.

It is known as that the arrival of a zashiki warashi in a house brings good fortune; its departure involving a Net decline of the field. This aspect is so much anchored in the Japanese Culture that the companies, concerned to have the chance with them, built houses to shelter the spirits. That can seem futile because the zashiki warashi are supposed to prefer the old houses at the new offices and laboratories, residing only in occupied dwellings.

To attract and retain a zashiki warashi at home, it is known as that the spirit must be estimated and high like his/her own child. However, too much attention can make it flee. Being of childish nature, it sometimes happens to him to make jokes, even misdeeds. In this case, it is advised to speak nicely with the spirit and to forget this variation.
