Zarmaganda

Ouallam or the Zarmaganda , is one of the 35 departments which account the administrative sudivision of the Niger.

Geography

Located in the area of Tillaberi between the latitudes 14° and 16 ° Nord and longitudes 1°62 and 2°66 Is. It covers a surface of 22.132 km2. it is limited to the south by the department of Kolo, in north by the republic of the Mali, the west by the Tillaberi department and in the east by the department filingue.

Population

Oualam counts 281.821 inhabitants in 2001, primarily Zarmas and some tribes Touareg.

Culture
