Zariquiegui

Zariquiegui is a village located at the north of the Spain, in the commune of Zizur Mayor, of the autonomous Communauté of Navarre.

Geography

In the Sierra del Perdon, to 11,5 km in the south-west of Pampelune.

History

It was a city as of 1131 and devastated in 1348 by the plague.
The Hospitaliers of Midsummer's Day had there the Romance church, also dedicated to San Andres.

The Pilgrimage of Compostelle

On the Camino navarro of the Pilgrimage of Saint-Jacques-to-Compostelle.
One comes from Zizur Mayor, the next commune is Obanos, the church San Guilhem and the Arnotegui vault.

Monk

the church San Andrés.
It orders the entry of the village ordered along the way very paved of Saint-Jacob, and on which overflow of the eaves prononcés.
Of late Romance style, 13th century. With only one arched nave, and a tower square supported by buttresses.
Its gate is vault, with capitals decorated with vegetable reasons, large Chrisme on the tympanum. Inside, a Retable of Romance style, but of the beginning of the 17th century.

Civilians

By far the Basque pediment and the cypress of the cemetery are seen.

Festivities

The employers' festivals are celebrated the last weekend of June.
