Zapping (False-Anglicism) is an emission of French Télévision which repeats the moments considered by its funny authors as more , most disturbing, more moving or strangest by the programs of the day before, all confused chains.

Conceived by the chain Canal+ on the initiative of its director of the programs of then (Alain de Greef), Zapping appeared as of September 1989. Its intermediate duration is of four minutes and represents a barometer of the media Social life, and Politique. Its originality is due to the fact that, in spite of the absence of comment, the emission is not tinted of it an opinion: the selection of the various sequences is subjective, and the Montage, the way in which they are connected, makes it possible to support a comparison between them, so for example underlining the nonsense of it.

One of the preferred targets of the emission is Jean-Pierre Pernaut, the presenter of the Tv news 13 hours of TF1 which stresses the Tradition, the Artisanat and the trade S in the process of disappearance: it is often turned into ridiculous like populist and shift with reality.

Just like the Puppets of information , there exists the Week of the zapping (just after the Week of the Puppets ) which reports the best moments of the programs of the past Semaine.

the Night of the zapping is an event organized by the association Solidarité AIDS which consists of the diffusion in front of a public of large a zapping from approximately 6 hours. The profits are redistributed with the assistance with the people touched by the AIDS, for half in France and half abroad.

It should be noted that the concept of this emission also exists in Germany, under the name of " First Zapping "
