Zantafio

Zantafio is one of the characters of the cartoon Spirou and Fantasio . He is the not very scrupulous cousin of Fantasio, and is a recurring Méchant of the series. Zantafio resembles Fantasio physically, but has gominés brown hair and a moustache.

Appearance

It appears for the first time in Spirou and the heirs , where it enters in competition against Fantasio to obtain the heritage of their uncle Tanzafio. It appears like a character neglected, extravagant, cheater, manipulator and dishonest person. The end of this history seems to be concluded more favorably, Zantafio saving Spirou and Fantasio of the Chahutas Indians before disappearing in the depths from the jungle from Palombie.

The Dictator

Zantafio becomes dictator of the country in the Dictator and the Mushroom where he ambitionne to invade the adjoining country, Guaracha, in order to seize its richnesses; Spirou, Fantasio and Seccotine, helped of the Count de Champignac manage to reverse it without pouring blood. The album is representative of the unstable political situation which animated South America at that time.

Return in Europe

Zorglub

Zantafio reappears then in Europe in the album the gold Maker where it tries to steal the plans of the book of Nicolas Flamel, supposed to enable him to build a machine to make gold. It will return once again in the role of hyper-number 1 of the Triangle, international gangster organization (in the beginning parodies of Japanese Yakuzas, in this album rather denouncer of the dictatorship of Papa Doc., Zantafio being made call Pop Papa) where it tries to make control on Polynesian nuclear installations. It will disappear then from the series during twenty year old meadows.

The return

They are Tome and Janry which will ressusciteront it in Spirou in Moscow , where Zantafio, become extremely influential within the Russian Maffia, tries to benefit from the end of the USSR (the album occurs in 1991) to try to tap money with the government by subtilizing the mummy of Lénine. Overcome by Spirou and Fantasio, it returns to Europe with two of its lieutenants in the man who did not want to die and tries to be made forget, when the unexpected resurrection of his/her uncle Tanzafio, agent of the secrecy of El Dorado and waters of youth which would run there, encourages it to leave the shade. Spirou, Fantasio, Spip and Tanzafio launch out then in a keen continuation which will not prevent the shady from seizing water and to kill the uncle for good. However, water having been used for ressusciter two friends deceased of Spirou, it lost all its capacities. When Zantafio realizes there, it is caught up with by the Russian Maffia just at the end of the album, which does not conclude on its fate
