Zamzam
The well of Zamzam are located meadows of the Kaaba. Historically, the Moslem sources indicate that the well of Zam-zam was, at the origin, provided by Allah for Hâjer (Haggar), the wife of Ibrâhim, and with his/her son Ismaïl, in order to provide them the drink which they needed so much whereas they were, only, in a desert Vallée. According to the Islamic belief, the Djibril angel washed the heart of the Prophet Mahomet (sallallâhou alayhi wa sallam) with the water of Zamzam the night when the rise took place - Mi' râdj.
According to the Islamic belief, this water has several advantages:
-
Mohamed said: “Best the Eau on Ground is that of the zamzam; it is nutritive and curative”. (Sahih Al-Djami, 3302);
-
It was brought back in a sure way that Mahomet drank some, made its ablutions and poured some on its head. It was accustomed to carrying some in goatskin bottles and vats, it watered the patients of them and aspergeait some. (Have-Silsila have-sahiha, 883);
-
the companion known as: “we called it “the feeder” and found there an excellent support for the family (that wants to say that it replaced the Nourriture and place for the children held some” (have-silsila have-sahiha by Al-Albani, 2685);
-
the Prophet said: “the water of zamzam is useful for all this why she is drunk”. (Paid by Ibn Madja, 3062).
The marketing and the export of water are prohibited by the Saoudi government. However there exists a traffic of " faux" zamzam outside the kingdom.
