Zalmoxis

In Antiquity, Zalmoxis or Zamolxis was the spiritual leader of the Daces of Dacie. Its lesson seems to come from Egypt. Thanks to its maxims, Daces believed in the life after death and in many divinations (?).

The worship of Zalmoxis probably starts towards 1700 before JC (?).

Etymology

It may be that Zalmoxis wants to say " Zeu Mos" in Rumanian i.e., " God very âgé".

One can also note the resemblance to " Zeu Moxei" , of the Sanskrit Moksha which means " the life éternelle" , by the release of the cycle of the life and death.

Similarity with the Celts

Just as among Celts, religion was of the initiatory type. The large priest had a very important role.

Similarity with other religions

Prohibition to drink wine for everyone and, for the priests, to eat meat.
