Zaibatsu

In the Japan, zaibatsu (財閥) defines a great group of Entreprise S, present in almost all the sectors of the economy. These companies maintained the cross participations.

They constituted the backbone of the Complexe Japanese militaro-industrialist at the time of the expansion of the Empire of Japan during the era Showa. Zaibatsu like Mitsubishi and Nissan were in particular implied in the manufacture of the armament and the military apparatuses just as in the factories established in the colonies as the Manchukuo where they had recourse to forced workers.

At the time of the Occupation of Japan, between 1945 and 1947, the Americans wanted to dismantle them for their active role in the Second world war. The zaibatsu did not disappear, but took another structure which one names now Keiretsu. In addition, all their leaders were exonerated from criminal continuations by Douglas MacArthur.

Some zaibatsu: Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Sumitomo, Itochu, Marubeni, Nichimen, Kanematsu, Nissan.
