Zaïko Langa Langa

Zaïko Langa Langa (also written Zaiko Langa Langa ) is a popular musical group of the Congo-Kinshasa, formed in the years 1970, when Congo was called Zaire . Several famous musicians began their careers in this group, like Papa Wemba, Bozi Boziana, Dindo Yogo, Pépé Felly, Evolocko Jocker and Nyoka Longo. Several other groups left this formation, the majority with a certain success, like Isifi Lokole and Yoka Lokole, Viva Musica, Langa Langa, Zaiko Familia Dei, Anti Shock, Choc Stars, and Zaiko Nkolo Mboka. The name Zaïko is formed starting from the name Zaire ya bankɔ́kɔ , meaning “Zaire of the ancestors” in Lingala.

The group Zaïko Langa Lango is formed in 1970 pennies the name Orchestra Zaïko . The members are at the time: Dad Wemba, Evolocko Lay Lay, Zamungana and Nyoka Longo. The troop revolutionized the Congolese music by adopting a faster rate/rhythm, giving up the wind instruments and proposing the battery and the Solo S of Guitare. Their scenes are usually animated by a dozen dancers.

About 1973, the group had become one of the most popular groups of Zaire. Evolocko Jocko, considered as the most popular member, would have invented the Cavacha, a popular dance through central Africa and of the East during the years 1970.

Two or three years later, the group started to divide. Dad Wemba and Bozi left. Lengi Lenga joined Zaiko Langa Langa, in order to replace Papa Wemba.

Towards the end of the year 1970, the group was with its apogee, with like member: Nyoka Longo, Lengi Lenga, Bimi Ombale, Dindo Yogo, Evolocko and Bozi Boziana, with the musicians Meridjo and Bapius. Their songs were refined, arranged better and more harmonious. The concerts were better choreographies.

A few years later, Evolocko and Mavuela left to form Isifi Lokole which was divided into Yoka Lokole and Viva Musica.

At the end of the years 1980, the dissensions in the group divided the troop into two factions: Nyoka Longo with Meridjo and Dindo Yogo formed Zaiko Langa Lango and Bimi Ombale with Lengi Lenga and Ilo Pablo formed Zaiko Langa Langa Familia Dei. The two groups were successes.
