Z 8100

Description

The oars Z 8100 or MID 79 are the first oars of interconnection in Île-de-France. Conceived for the line B of the RER, they were to be played of certain characteristics of the two companies:

  • high quays in the south on the part the RATP, quays normal low on the northern part the SNCF
  • food 1,5 Kv continuous the RATP and 25 Kv single-phase current for the northern suburbs the SNCF
are the principal differences.

The whole of the oars (which are distributed between the two companies) are couplables between them in UM.

An oar is in the following way made up:

  • a railcar of series ZBD 8100;
  • a trailer ZRAB 28100;
  • a trailer ZRB 28100;
  • a railcar of series ZBD 8100.

One can distinguish two under-series from Z 8100:

  • a series of 1979, called MID 79 has by the RATP, as well as the SNCF (respectively 31 & 51 oars).
  • another series of 1979, called MID 79 B by the RATP (38 oars).

To exclusively note their filiation in the forms of oars the RATP, the 73 oars MID 84 in service on the line has the RER for 65 oars and the line B for 8 oars.) The trains of the line B can of this fact being mixed with MID 79 harnessed to MID 84. These MID oars 84 are numbered following MID the 79: 8341/42 to 8485/86.

Service

The whole of the oars Z 8100 (name the SNCF, oars assigned to the deposit of the Vault-Joncherolles)/MID 79 (name the RATP, assigned to the deposit of Massy) is in service on the line B of the RER. They all are in addition maintained with workshops the RATP Massy-Palaiseau.

During the rigorous winters 1985,1986 and 1987, this material proved to be very frost-susceptible and posed problems at the point enormously to more be able to circulate, obliging blow the recall in-extremis “Z” going back to 1938 about to be put at the retirement, thus monocourant stopping the interconnection with Gare of North. Since, the insulation of the electric parts and motorization were improved.

Restorations

In 2007, the oars of the RER B are gradually equipped with new wind vanes with diodes (alternating name of mission (with number) and destination) similar to those of renovated ms 61 and the sound part of SISVE.

A more important restoration of the 119 oars of the RER B as well interior as external, for 274,75 M€ and spread out of 2008 to 2014, will allow in particular a technical update, the installation of cooled ventilation and vidéosurveillance, the creation of spaces to luggage adapted better to the airport transit and the improvement of accessibility. 6 MID 84 of the RER has will be reallocated with the RER B and will benefit from the same restoration for 1,72 M€, involving the restoration of 10 additional ms 61 to compensate.

Particular oars

  • Z 8244 (the RATP) and Z 8269 (the SNCF) were destroyed and erased. The remaining motor coaches made it possible to form a hybrid oar Z 8243/Z 8270.
  • Z8339/8340 rows hybrid MI79/MI84 which allowed thanks to tests the creation of the series of the MI84
