Z 5176-5182

Description

This small under-series of Z 5100 was made up in 1985 by transformation for circulation under 750 V with collecting by Conductor rail.
The composition of the element passed from 3 to 2 cases: an engine by bogie having been insulated, the power of the motor coach was divided by 2.
This modification of end of a career did not ensure a great reliability this small series. Z 5179 had to be erased prematurely in 1989 and replaced by the modification of Z 5176.

Service

Z 5177 to 82 (then 5176) ensured the last years of the service of the suburban line Puteaux - Issy-Plain. Indeed, at the end of the career of the Standard oars (Z 1500), there did not exist any material ready to replace them. While waiting for a possible solution perennial with the exploitation of this small line to medium-heavy trafic, and isolated (it was only and last line supplied with conductor rail), six oars Z 5100 were selected with minor modifications (it was planned to use a series of railcar called " SEMI 88" , of appearance similar to Z 8100 and having wipers of collecting of the 750V. These railcars would have ensured the connection Defense - Issy-Plain).

This particular service ended in 1993 with the starting of the alterations of the line, which became the line of Tramway T2 of the RATP, between Defense and Issy-Valley of the Seine into 1997.

Particular railcars

  • Z 5179: following a breakdown considered to be irrevocable, it is erased as of 1989,
  • Z 5176: not modified at the beginning, it replaces in 1989 Z 5179 erased prematurely.
