ZAZ (ЗАЗ) is a mark of founded Ukrainian car in 1956. ZAZ means Usine of cars of Russian Zaporoje (: Zaporozhsky Avtomobilny Zavod), it is located at Zaporoje in Ukraine. This factory manufactured agricultural machinery before accommodating ZAZ.

The ZAZ were intended to motorize the Soviet people, but with the arrival of Lada on the market in 1966, the sales will know a fall, because at the time, people prefer the cars with a trunk.

Produced models

• ZAZ Zaporojets 965

The first model produced by ZAZ is a copy of FIAT 600, called ZAZ 965. The production begins on November 22nd, 1960. It is very a small car (3,33m) the engine is V4 of 746 Cm3 cooled by air, of 23 horses, maximum speed: 75 km/h; it is placed at the rear.

In October 1962, ZAZ launches the 965A, with an engine of 900 Cm3 27 CV, maximum speed: 80 km/h. The production continued until 1969.

• ZAZ Zaporojets 966

In November 1966, ZAZ leaves the 966, inspired by NSU PRINZ. The engine of about thirty horses is V4 of 900 Cm3, the same one as that of the 4x4 of the manufacturer LUAZ.

• ZAZ 968

In 1971, ZAZ restyle slightly the 966 (new front face), the engine is rebored to 1200 Cm3, its power rides 45 horses. Last 968 fell from the chains on June 30th, 1994.

• ZAZ 1102,1103,1105

Zaz launches in 1987, the ZAZ 1102, re-elected in Tavria France. She proposes three engines gasolines which respectively develop 51ch, 58ch and 72ch. The ZAZ 1103 is a version 4 doors named Slavuta, left in 1999, and the version 1105 is a version Break.

Slavuta étée slightly restylée in the Nineties and has more equipment.

Assembled models

In 1998, ZAZ signs agreements with Daewoo to assemble models LANOS, NUBIRA and LEGANZA.

In 2002, Daimler Benz assembles the models Classe E & Mr. In 2003, ZAZ assembles Lada Samara. An agreement was concluded between ZAZ & Opel for the assembly from Opel Corsa, Astra and Vectra. ZAZ produces as Daewoo Sens, Lanos with engine ZAZ 1300, sold less expensive as Lanos.

Production

In 1989, the three millionth vehicle leaves the line productions.

The figures of production are not known with certainty, in particular oldest.
