ZAP Quebec is an non-profit making organization (OSBL) of which the original intention is of faire of Quebec a city without fil, i.e., in the short run, to install Z ones of has ccès P ublic with Wireless Internet and free through the town of Quebec and its area.

This organization uses free software and equipment accessible WiFi to share connections Internet to high-flow.

The organization entirely is operated and managed by the voluntary ones and was creates in October 2006. Its first access points (also called Hotspot) were installed in December 2006 and their objective is to install a hundred ZAP from here the end of the year 2007. The installations are made in bars, parks, restaurants, coffees, shopping malls, community centres and other places public.

A team of voluntary undertakes the configuration and the installation of the equipment and also sees to ensure an adequate customer support when necessary. The contribution of the tradesmen and institutions which offer an access point consists in providing the band-width and router and paying an annual contribution of 50$ at the organization, which ensures itself to make the promotion of the list of the access points on its Web site.

Ten of other places in the world evaluate in this moment the software.
