Yves of Chartres
Yves of Chartres was born towards 1040 and died towards 1116. Yves of Chartres is a major actor in the conflict which opposes the Papauté and the Empire, the Querelle of the Nominations.
In 1078, Yves of Chartres becomes prior of Saint-Quentin of Beauvais and twelve years later bishop of Chartres (Liste of the bishops of Chartres).
Yves of Chartres was famous as specialist in the canonical Droit, it is the Querelle of the Nominations which was worth its fame to him. The core of its theory is the distinction between the temporal one and the spiritual one. It supports that the nomination is not a sacrament and perhaps given by laic. Thereafter, Yves of Chartres makes a distinction between the episcopal dedication with handing-over of pastoral load guide all the Christians of the diocese and in addition the temporal nomination. This distinction could make it possible to the king not to pass by the handing-over of the stick and the ring.
Yves of Chartres was also one of the large adversaries of the king Philippe Ier de France at the time of his remarriage with Bertrade de Montfort.
