Yves Thériault (Quebec, November 27th, 1915 - Joliette, October 20th, 1983) is a writer Québécois.
Resulting from a modest milieu, its family moves very early with Montreal where it makes studies at the school Our-Lady-of-Grace and the Mount-Saint-Louis. But at 15 years, it is constrained to give up its studies during its eighth year. He exerts then various trades: , salesman truck driver of cheese and tractors, trapper. In 1934, because of a lung disease, it must remain during one year and half with the sanatorium of the Lake-Edouard.
From 1935 to 1940, it is advertiser on several radio stations: CKAC in Montreal, CHNC with New Carlisle in Gaspésie, CHRC in Quebec, CHLN with Three-Rivers, CKCH with Hull, CJBR with Rimouski. Since 1940, he writes his radiophonic first sketches and, under various pseudonyms, of innumerable " novels with ten sous".
He publishes then his first tales in the Day, directed by Jean-Charles Harvey. In 1943, he becomes script writer and advertizing with the National office of the Film. From 1945 to 1950, he is script writer in Radio-Canada; he continues, during the following years, to collaborate in several radiophonic series in Radio-Canada. During all its career, it publishes in various newspapers and re-examined: Photo-Newspaper, Saturdays, the New Changing, the Bulletin of the Farmers, Connection, French America, Gloves of the sky, the Duty, the Fatherland, Lady of the manor, the Maclean Magazine, the New Newspaper, Seven Days, the Press, Digeste Flash, the Day, Video-Press and Delivers from here.
In the years 1950, it carries out a round the world tour on an Italian cargo liner and several voyages in Europe. From 1953 to 1955, it adapts the novel Maria Chapdelaine of Louis Hémon in weekly episodes for radio station CKVL. From 1965 to 1967, he is director of the cultural Affairs to the ministry for the Indian Businesses and the Canadian Far North with Ottawa.
He is especially known for his novel Agaguk. Prolific author, in addition to one forty novels, it wrote nearly thirty books for children and teenagers, more than one hundred tales, accounts and news, more than one hundred radiophonic texts, twenty TV-theaters and finally of tens of articles, leading articles, tests and chronicles published in reviews and newspapers.
