Yves-Thibault de Silguy

Yves-Thibault de Silguy (born the July 22nd 1948 with Rennes) is a senior official and business man French.

Biography

After studies with the Faculty of Law to Rennes, with the Institute of political studies (IEP) of Paris and with the National school of administration (ENA) (Guernica promotion), it returns to the Ministère of Foreign affairs starting from 1976. He works of 1981 with 1984 with the European commission in the capacity as adviser near François-Xavier Ortoli. Of 1985 with 1988, he is economic council successively with the embassy of France to the the United States then with Matignon, under the Prime Minister Jacques Chirac. He becomes then managing director with the international businesses of Usinor-Sacilor of 1988 with 1993, and becomes member of the European commission in load of the economic affairs and financial, representing France on proposal of Edouard Balladur in 1995.

He resigns with the other members of the Commission Santer in 1999. He continues his career in the group Suez while being managing director with the international businesses. For this reason, he becomes member of the boards of directors of M6 and Vinci. Following the crisis generated by the departure of Antoine Zacharias of the head of this last group, he becomes president of Vinci in June 2006.

He is member of the Board of directors of two Think tank, that of the French Institut of the international relations, and that of the Amis of Europe. He is also chairman of the board of AgroParisTech and belonged to the committee of the consultants of the review International policy . He was in addition elected Breton of the year by armor magazine in 1996. He already published many articles, documents and books, of which: the Euro (LGF, 1998).
