Yves-Marie Pasquet
Yves Marie Pasquet , born in 1947 with Orleans, is a Compositeur, former professor with the Sorbonne, currently professor of musical analysis to the Conservatoire with regional radiation of Montpellier.
Biography
In 1968, it obtains Schnitgerpreijs of Zwolle (Netherlands) for interior Conversation for organ. Prize winner of the Foundation of the Vocation in 1972, it improves near max Deutsch and Henri Dutilleux with the Teacher training school of music of Paris where it obtains the 1st Price of composition unanimously and congratulations of the jury. He enters then to the Conservatoire of Paris where he works in particular with Olivier Messiaen, Claude Ballif and Michel Philippot, and receives the Price of composition. In 1976, it obtains the price Lili Boulanger.Called by Ballif “fish pilot of the avant-garde”, international prize of composition, Yves Marie Pasquet, very committed in the contemporary creation and the search for new means, collaborated in work of IRCAM at the end of the years 1970; the type-setter directs his research in directions which will prove very fertile, in particular the synthesis of the voice sung with his musical applications, the perceptuelle analysis using the computer (analyzes Marteau without Master of Pierre Boulez), the study of sound hybridizations of objects and the generation of new musical scales. Several of its parts were created by the Ensemble Intercontemporain.
Yves-Marie Pasquet develops a very personal esthetics and a language. Its works are always the fruit of a great requirement, as well in the writing, always very elaborate, as on the expressive level indicating a very great sensitivity; they also reflect, through their deep poetry, the attachment of the type-setter to the spiritual dimension of Article.
A new creative period opens with the Messe of Saint Bruno for chorus with six votes (2003) followed Messe of Chartreuse for chorus to four votes (2004) after more than ten years of silence and loneliness. The topic of the Pater Noster of these masses was given to him at the time of a mass in chartreuse and incited it to compose again. While remaining faithful to itself, it widens its writing with an authentic modal tradition drawn with its sources: Gregorian music and the musics Indian and Japanese woman. The harmonic material of its first two masses is " diatonique" , on the only white keys of the piano, without to make allegiance with the tonality. This melody and harmonic material, associated with a style of a great sobriety and stripped of all emphase and virtuosity, confers on these two works an intense serenity favourable with the meditation and contemplation. The Messe of Chartreuse indissociablement remains related on competence, the work and the rare devotion of Patrick Pouget and his Phonem chorus who were devoted to make it hear and know. The type-setter continues to develop this modal writing in the composition of a series of masses for various vocal and instrumental formations: the Messa of the B.V. Maria , in language occitane, for chorus of women, chorus mixed and together instrumental, which was asked to him for the birthday of the Council of Agde chaired by Saint Césaire of Arles into 506; and the Missa , in Latin, for chorus of children and women and a unit made up of serious instruments, created, partly, with the Cathedral of Béziers in 2007. Another mass is currently in building site for chorus of men and percussions.
Its teaching activity it led University Paris Iv-Sorbonne, Universities of Poitiers, Limoges and of Montpellier, to the Polytechnic school, like in several academies. It made of many pupils among whom Philippe Manoury, Patrick Marcland.
Founding member of the Re-examined of Musical Analysis , he is also the author of several articles on the music of the 20th century ( Revue of Musical Analysis ) treating Webern, Ballif, and soon Debussy.
For the year 2006-2007, Yves-Marie Pasquet was type-setter in residence with Saint-Michel-sur-Orge. Four of its works were interpreted by professors of this academy.
