Yves-Marie Andre

Yves-Marie Andre , known as the Father Andre , (Châteaulin, 1675 - Caen, 1764) was a Jésuite, Philosophe, and writer French.

He entered to the Jesuits in 1693, and taught initially the Philosophie with Amiens, then with Caen. But, having expressed too much attachment to the doctrines of Descartes and Malebranche, it was withdrawn from this teaching and was charged with a pulpit of Mathématiques in Caen.

He is especially known by a Essai on the Beautiful , published in 1741. One owes him also a Traité on the man , where he seeks to explain the action of the heart on the Corps.

The P. André left manuscripts which are preserved at the library of Caen.

It should not be confused with Small the P. André, Prédicateur of the 17th century, whose name is André the Baker.
