Yvan Muller

Yvan Muller (born the August 16th 1969 with Altkirch, in the Haut-Rhin) is a racing driver French.

Biography

After 8 years of karting (decorated of a championship of Europe K in 1986 Formulates), Yvan Muller reaches the automobile sport in 1988, in the championship of France of Formule Renault. From 1989 to 1991, it disputes the championship of France of Formule 3, before joining into 1992 the rows of the British championship of Formula 2, which it gains with 4 victories. This success enables him to start again its career, but one season missed in the international championship by F3000 1993 encourages it to give up the single-seater, for lack of outlets.

From 1994, Muller starts again its career in the tests of truck, of which it will not be long in becoming one of the best world specialists. It spends two seasons in the championship of France of Supertourisme (it is titrated in 1995), one season in the championship of Italy (in 1996), one season in the championship of Germany STW (in 1997), before joining in 1998 the British championship (BTCC). After a first season of BTCC at Audi, it joined into 1999 the rows of Vauxhall. Spectacular pilot, appreciated of the British public for his daring operations, it takes down 36 successes in the discipline, and the championship in 2003. In 2006, Muller leaves the BTCC to join WTCC (championship of the world of the private cars) within the team Seat Sport.

There, as of its first season, it gains a victory, fights for the title until the last weekend of Macao, and finishes finally 4th championship of the World. In 2007, it gains 2 victories and is affirmed in time that Leader of the Seat team. Better, it is ex-aequo at the head championship with Andy Priaulx before the last weekend. But a mechanical problem the constrained one with the abandonment whereas it carried out the first of the two races of the weekend, it will finish despite everything vice-champion of the world.

Even if that represented only one minor share of its sporting engagements, Yvan Muller is especially known French general public for her 10 victories (in 11 participations) in the Trophée Andros.
