Yvan Delporte (1928 - 2007) was a scenario writer of the Franco-Belgian Cartoon and one of the principal organizers of the weekly magazine the Newspaper of Spirou of which he was the editor association of 1956 with 1968.

It was born the June 24th 1928 with Brussels and deceased the March 5th 2007 in the same city.

Biography

Yvan Delporte is only seventeen years old when it integrates the editions Dupuis where its first employment consists in altering the low necklines on the American comics considered to be too licencieux by the direction of the time. In 1949, it signs its first scenario of an episode of Jean Valhardi , drawn by Eddy Paape, there will be others well of them.

Side scenario, this one-man band worked as much with Eddy Paape as Will ( Isabelle ) or Peyo ( Benoît Brisefer and of course Schtroumpfs ). He was scenario writer or Co-scenario writer of several authors of the Journal of Spirou of less notoriety in the general public, like Hausman ( Saki and Zunie ).

One regularly finds the mention “On an idea of Yvan Delporte” for certain pages of series high-speed motorboats or mythical of the magazine Spirou ( Gaston Lagaffe and Black thoughts of Franquin , Boule and Bill of Roba …).

The principal contribution of Yvan Delporte to the Journal of Spirou is however side of editorial and, for the period when he was his editor association, in the invention of headings or operations (contest, special issues, supplements, Mini-account S, Maximum-account S, in which he often took part as writer or scenario writer, etc). Its contributions to the editorial pages include/understand the mail, of the humorous texts on the drafting (more or less) real of the newspaper or that fictitious of Gaston Lagaffe, of the accounts around certain heroes (Boule and Bill, Gaston, Spirou and Fantasio), of the tales, the parodies of texts scientific, etc

Thereafter, Yvan Delporte was the heart (damnée?) supplement the Illustrated Trombone of 1977 with 1982, which had two transitory predecessors, the maximum-accounts (of the inserts similar to the mini-accounts, but in large size, 1962) and the Telegraph (nearer in the form but much wiser, in 1966 - 1967). the Illustrated Trombone deeply marked a whole generation of amateurs of cartoons, humor (black) and absurdity, and many (futures the) professional ones.

The series in which he collaborated as scenario writer in the Années 1950 and at the beginning of the Années 1960 were often rather traditional, but as author of texts or autonomous scenarios, in particular for the mini-accounts, he made watch as of beginning of the year 1960 of a direction of derision and a mild nutter spirit sometimes rather caustic which accompany, in an “adult” register less, the work of Rene Goscinny at the same time and precede works of Gotlib during his time Pilote and of Mandryka.

After having exerted its talent multi-facets in fields as various as the data base, the cartoons or animation… the writing of the scenario of Johan and Pirlouit starting from 1994 constituted almost a return to the sources for Yvan Delporte!

As well as editor association as by his work far from conventional (and often satirist) compared to the guns time in the publications intended for the youth, whose crowning will be the illustrated Trombone , Yvan Delporte probably had an importance comparable with that of Rene Goscinny for the evolution of the Franco-Belgian Cartoon towards a form minus conformist - in his contents as in its form - at the end of the years 1960.

During its last years, it had taken in sympathy the " new cartoon française" - the Trondheim, Finely, Sfar. " Sfar, I have deepest admiration for this catch. I get along very well with Larcenet. Trondheim called upon me - I am very proud - for its " Désoeuvré" … There are really beautiful people in this generation. can make speak the emotion. In our generation, only Franquin was able to do it. The other difference, it is that they are regarded more as artists today. The French can say " artistes". Not Belgians, because in Belgium, one does not take serious to people who are caught with the sérieux."

Anecdotes

• Gaston Lagaffe, which initially seemed a hero without name in small strips , was baptized by Yvan Delporte of the name of one of his/her friends gaffeurs.
• Large amateur of word games, he is the author of those of the heading On line of the drafting of the Journal of Spirou, like: “known as step: there is brawl at the Assyrians. Said: Assurbanipal. ” , or of those which one finds in each page of the Black thoughts of Franquin: “One should not confuse these are difficult times and the victims immolent” .
• Invité to the Grammy Awards, when he worked on the cartoons of Schtroumpfs for NBC, he was to wear smoking, which was not its kind. It was then made manufacture to measure smoking in jean.
