Biography

Lawyer and Politician.
Doctor in right, bachelor of arts, first secretary with the conference of the lawyer S with the Council of State and the Court of appeal, he is professor with free faculties of Lille and Paris.
Seriously wounded at the time of the First World War with Virton, he is then rapporteur of war with Chaumont. He is elected appointed Mayenne of 1919 with 1932. He is initially registered with the group of the republican Entente, then with that of the republican and social Action, and then with the group republican-Socialist.
Conservateur in the beginning, it militates then with the Parti republican-Socialist, which attracts to him tough resentments and the hostility of the Catholic church. Friend of Leon Blum and Edouard Herriot, he is treasurer of the league of the human rights and initiates the young person Maurice Schumann with the policy.
He is under-secretary of State to the State education and the Art schools, charged with the Technical education of the February 23rd 1930 at March 1st 1930.

Marthe Chabrun, his wife and collaborator, large Germanist, launches out as of the death of her husband in the action: as of 1935, pionnières of the Antifascisme, it creates and chairs the defense committee of the political prisoners, goes courageously amongst other things in Germany and Romania to visit the first Communists imprisoned by the Nazis. It receives Francesco Nitti regularly, and accommodates the brothers Carlo Rosselli and Nello Rosselli fifteen days before their assassination. During the war it adheres to the French Communist party, its house becomes a meeting place and of asylum for many political refugees.
During resistance, it is called the " Arag" mother;.
As of its creation, it belongs to the Union of the French Women. It will militate in the left organizations until her death in 1972. It is also buried close to César with Crémieu in Isere, cradle of its paternal family.
