Yu-Gi-Oh! Card deck to be played

Yu-Gi-Oh! Card deck to play is perhaps one of the card decks to collect most known. It is inspired by the play Magic and Wizard of the Manga Yu-Gi-Oh!. How Magic the Gathering, there are tournaments such as the leagues and even a championship of France of Yu-Gi-Oh! Card deck to be played. Gaining of 2007 is Pierre Pradelles. __TOC

The goal

The goal is, in a duel, to reduce the points of life of its adversary to 0 (one starts with 8.000 points), sometimes within an assigned limit of time. If a player cannot pick of chart at the beginning of his turn, it also loses the duel. Lastly, certain charts can give the victory, such as the parts of Exodia , the charts of F.I.N.A.L. ( D.E.A.T.H. with the Japan), Final Countdown or Vénominaga, Goddess of the Poisonous Snakes .
In the official tournaments, a player is declared gaining when it gained a match, i.e which it was the first to gain two duels according to the rules stated above. Exception: certain charts make it possible to gain the match by gaining only one duel, but those did not leave in French, and are, for the majority, prohibited in tournament officiel.
Since September 2007, Upperdeck Entertainment added official rules for Tag Duel (duels with 2 against 2).

Hardware requirement

In addition to a deck of charts, a little material can sometimes be necessary to benefit fully from the play.

Charts

There exist various types of charts:

Monsters

The monsters are used to attack the adversary to decrease its points of life. A monster has points of attack (ATK) and defense (DEF). Their type and attribute (in the play, the attributes are marked in Majuscules) enable them to be valid targets or not of certain charts magics or pièges.
Monstres Normaux , Monstres Fusions , Monstres Rituels , Monstres for purpose.
It should be noted that a Monster fusion or ritual can also be a monster for purpose. If a monster Fusion or Ritual does not have an effect, he is not regarded all the same as a normal monster, just like a monster " without effet". Lastly, a categoery of monsters for purpose are regarded as normal in certain circumstances (see the Monsters Gémeau a little low).
Among the monsters for purposes, there exist subcategories, such on the Union monsters, Spirit (sometimes Esprit), Toon, Gémeau.
  • Union : in fact monsters can become charts magic of equipment for other monsters (marked on the Union monster) or become again a monster once by turn. Once equipped with a monster, they can confer additional effects to him.
  • Spirit / Spirit : they are monsters having a rather powerful effect and easy to call upon, but they cannot be called upon by Special Invocation and must turn over in the Hand at the end of the turn (this last restriction can be countered thanks to a chart magic: Arranger of Spiritual Energy ).
Note: the Spirit monsters result from the old Japanese legends.
  • Toon : they are separate into 2 Catégories which one can see only by reading their effects. The 2 categories share the same effects which are to have to await a turn before being able to attack (a little like the Evil Invocation Magic: the assembly, and to be destroyed if a chart Monde of Toons is destroyed on your Ground.
    • Category 1: They cannot be called upon without the Monde of Toons not being on your Ground.
    • Category 2: They can be called upon without the Monde of Toons being on your Ground, but gain an additional effect if it is present.
  • Gémeau : in fact rather recent monsters (extension TAEV - Evolution Tactical), in spite of their effect, are regarded as normal monsters. After call uponbeing called upon (the following turn if it were a Normal Invocation, the same turn if it were Special) and that they are face recto on the Ground, they can be " D-invoquées" , i.e they are regarded as new monsters, without to leave the Ground and to return there (thus charts which were attached there remain it) but with an effect, specified on the chart. To carry out ette " D-invocation" amounts using the Normal Invocation of the turn (no other Normal Invocation can thus take place during the turn) and can however be cancelled by certain charts like Torrential Hommage .

To call upon monsters

normal Invocation: makes select a monster of its hand and place it on the ground. Only one normal invocation can be realized by turn.

Flip Invocation: makes select a monster face back and turn over it face recto. Plusieurs Flip invocations can be realized at the time of the same turn.

special Invocation: makes call upon a monster by an effect of chart (monster, trap or magic). Plusieurs special invocations can be realized at the time of the same turn. The invocation of monster fusions and ritual are included in this category.

The poses (made pose a monster face hidden on its ground) is a particular case: it is not a question itself of an invocation strictly speaking, one cannot call upon a monster by normal invocation the turn where an installation of monster was already carried out, and vice versa, nor to carry out more than one installation by turn. Moreover, one monster cannot be called upon by invocation Flip (it cannot be " flippé") the turn where it was posed.

The invocations sacrifices and installations sacrifices are particular case of invocation of the normal invocations and installations, respectively. Certain monsters needing sacrifices to be called upon, they can be placed on the ground either face recto in position of attack (they are then called upon), or face back in defensive position (they are then posed). Put aside the sacrifice, they share the same restrictions which the normal invocation and installation, respectivement.
The number of sacrifices is given according to the level of the monster to call upon/pose:

  • levels 1 to 4: no sacrifice necessary
  • levels 5 to 6: 1 monster to sacrifice
  • level 7 and more: 2 sacrifices
to note :
  1. level 12 is more to date existing level, but no monster with the top of level 10 requires of another invocation that a special invocation; monsters like Andro Sphinx or Sphinx Teleia are among the rare monsters of level 10 needing 2 sacrifices.
  2. Certains monsters can have in their effect a precision on the number of sacrifices, according to their effects, for example:
    1. Béhémoth, the king of all the animals has an effect specifying that it can have one sacrifice instead of 2.
    2. Gilford the Flash specifies that it has an additional effect if it is called upon by sacrificing 3 monsters instead of 2.
    3. Raviel, Empereur of the Phantasms indicates that it is necessary to sacrifice 3 monsters of the Démon type to call upon it (this case is a little particular, this invocation is regarded as special)
    4. Dragon Fusilier, the animal Bi-Modiale can be called upon without any sacrifice in spite of its level 7 (but there is the right to make sacrifices). If he is called upon without sacrifice, its attack is divided by 2.
    5. Aile Sinks Knight of Gaïa can be called upon normally without sacrifice in spite of its level 7 but, to call upon it without sacrifice, he must be the only chart in hand.
    6. Cyber Dragon can be called upon especially without sacrifice in spite of its level 5 provided that you do not have any monster on the ground and that the adversary has at least a monster on the ground.

Special particular cases of invocation
Here a rule to be respected concerning the special invocation of certain monsters for purposes:

If a monster can be called upon only by special invocation and only in one way or another, if it is in the cemetery, one can call upon it by special invocation on the ground by the effect of a chart (as Monster Reborn) mais uniquement if it were at least once called upon on the ground. For example, you can use Monster Reborn on Gigantes (can be called upon only by special invocation by withdrawing play a monster GROUND of the cemetery) if he were already called upon, but you cannot pas call upon it if it were sent to the cemetery if it forever called upon (as if for example it were trued hand).

Magics

  • Normal Magic (not of sign): who is sent to the cemetery after the activation and resolution of his effect or at the end of the turn of the controller of the chart (if it were cancelled in a chain or just chained, it is sent to the Cemetery at the end of the chain)
  • Magie of Equipment: (sign: + ) it equips a monster and gives him an effect (increase/reduction in ATK/DEF; many attacks; Damage…)
  • Magie Continues (sign: ): its effect remains activated as long as it remains on the ground. If it is destroyed, it does not matter the moment, its effect stops continuation.
  • Ritual Magic (sign: ): used for the invocation of a ritual monster
  • Magic of Ground (sign: a pink of the winds with 4 directions): this chart can be activated or posed in the zone of the charts of ground, its effect includes all the charts on the ground (generally). It is destroyed by the effect of a chart, or by the activation of another chart magic of ground (even if the latter is activated by the adversary)
  • Magie Play-Rapid: this special chart of which the effect is not continuous can be:
    • activated:
      • since the hand during the turn of the player (any time during the turn)
      • during the turn of the adversary if it were posed
    • not activated: the turn where it is posed

Traps

  • Normal Trap
  • Continuous Trap: remain on the ground after to be activated
  • Counter-Trap.

Types and attributes of monsters

Chains

A chain is a " empilation" effects of charts.

Example: You play Raigeki in order to destroy all the monsters on the ground of your adversary. Raigeki is thus placed as Block Chains 1. To answer the activation of Raigeki, your adversary plays Échange Ténébueux to cancel the effect Raigeki, placed in Block Chains 2. To answer the activation of dark Exchange, you play Seven Tools of the Gangster (placed in Block Chains 3) in order to cancel the effect of it. Your adversary then does not answer the effect Seven Tools of the Gangster. The chains are solved starting from the Block Chains highest. Let us see thus seeing what that gives:

  • Seven Tools of the Gangster cancels the effect Dark Exchange.

  • Dark Échange should be solved, but Seven Tools of the Gangster prevents his activation.
  • Raigeki should be cancelled by Dark Échange, but Seven Tools of the Gangster cancels the effect Dark Exchange.

Finally, the effect Raigeki is activated, all the monsters on the ground of your adversary are destroyed.

Particular case

If several effects Spell Speed 1 (see low) are started at the same time , they are solved in a special Chain.

When the effects are activated, the player of the turn piles up them in the order of his choice, then the adversary with the right to continue the chain.

Example: At the same time, you activate Ultimate Flamme (a Magie chart which inflicts 600 points of damage in Life Points of the adversary) and you call upon Démon of Vanity (as long as it is on the ground, no player cannot make special invocation). With you to choose which will be the chart as Block 1 Chains and which will be as Block Chains 2. If Ultimate Flame were placed as Block Chains 1 and Demon of Vanity as a Block Chains 2, your adversary can play Couper the Grass under the Foot (the effect of a Monster cancels). If you choose to make the reverse, your adversary will be able to activate Magic Brouilleur (the effect of a Magie chart cancels).

Spell Speed

The charts have a speed (not in km/h, but of Spell Speed 1 to 3) of activation. To answer the activation of a chart, it is necessary to play a of the same chart speed or high speed. However, the charts of Spell Speed 1 cannot answer the activation of another chart of Spell Speed 1.
  1. Spell Speed 1: Monster for purpose, chart Magic (with the exeption of the charts Magic Play-Rapid).

  2. Spell Speed 2: Chart Magic Play-Rapid, chart Traps (except for the charts Against-Trap).
  3. Spell Speed 3: Chart Against-Trap.
