Yssingeaux
Yssingeaux (in Occitan Sinjau ) is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Loire and the area Auvergne.
Its inhabitants is called the Yssingelais and the Yssingelaises .
Geography
Yssingeaux is located in the part is Velay and in the department of the Haute-Loire (43). The area of Yssingeaux is sometimes called the country of juices (a juice being a dome of volcano)
This sub-prefecture is characterized, since ten years, by its economic dynamism and demographic. Indeed, in spite of its membership of the area Auvergne, Yssingeaux is under influence direct of its neighbor rhônalpine Saint-Etienne and accommodates today more and more new residents coming from the area inhabitant of Saint-Etienne.
Demography
In addition, at the time of the census of 1999, the Total population (including the double accounts) was of 7.063 inhabitants.
History
Heraldic
Weapons of the town of Yssingeaux:“Of azure with five cocks from advanced gold posed 2,1 and 2, supported a flower of lily of same. ”
Malta-Brown, as for him, is satisfied to pay, in its note of illustrated France devoted to Yssingeaux, that the name of Yssingeaux would come, according to some, of cinc jaus which, in speaking about the country, would mean five cocks . But this interpretation, which it does not put especially ahead, seems partially contradicted by the existence of an old Latin denomination (nonknown time, on a geographical map): Icidmagus .
Attention, the table of Peutinger (transportation routes under Caracalla) shows us Icidmago between Aquae segete and Ruessio (Saint-Paulien).
In addition, no trace of Roman way found forever in Yssingeaux (or in its commune). Some seem to prefer Usson-in-Drill (42) like a site much more probable for Icidmago (or Iciomago). Yssingeaux has a Roman origin gallo, mentioned at the 10th century in the cartulaire of Chamalières. Strengthened city it is incorporated in Auvergne, in the county of Toulouse then to the crown.
