Yssandon ( Eissandon in Occitan) is a common French, located in the department of the Corrèze and the area the Limousin.

Geography

History

763: Sit of a famous battle between Pépin the Brief and Waïfre (or Gaifier) of Aquitaine, Duc of Aquitaine, the last of the princes Mérovingiens. The novel " Lions of Aquitaine" by Michel Peyramaure is inspired by it.

Personalities related to the commune

Jean-Baptiste Cabanis, born in 1723 in Yssandon and died in 1786 with Brive, large agronomist, specialist in the rural economy, it spread the use of potato. He is the father of Pierre Jean Georges Cabanis.
